The SOSFE, or Society Of Sustainability, Fun and Education, is a name that says everything.
Sustainability: We strive to take care of the environment by doing charity work, educating ourselves about the environment, and teaching others about the environment.
Fun: Of course, nothing is worth doing if it isn't fun! The SOSFE tries its hardest to make every endeavor fun and enjoyable for its members.
Education: Members of the SOSFE also want to learn about nature. But we don't do that with books and internet: We go out there with magnifying glasses and notebooks and educate ourselves!
Truly the SOSFE is a society created by kids, for kids. And that's the way we want it to stay. With NO appointed club leader, and NO adults laying out guidelines or curriculums, the SOSFE is a friendly environment where kids can express their love of nature their own way; not the way their club wants them to.
But what exactly do we do? A little bit of everything! SOSFE members enjoy excursions into forests with binoculars and notebooks to learn about nature, into community events to teach others about nature, and, of course, into landscapes and cityscapes to do charity work such as planting trees and picking up litter. Far from a scheduled, rigorous curriculum, SOSFE focuses on what our members want to do, seeing as the members are what makes up the club!
Who can join the SOSFE? Anyone! Children of all ages are welcome, (though please use common sense, and no one year olds or eighteen year olds, please!) and there is NO fee, NO audition, and NO sign-up sheet. We simply ask that you tell us you'd like to join. If you or your child would like to join SOSFE, you can contact us face to face at the events listed on the website, or through other means not yet decided. Just know that you are welcome.
